Ugly Shirts Fortune Lesson 3 Create Your Facebook Page

In this lesson, I will cover things that need to be done before we start our first campaign – creating a Facebook page for our chosen niche.

The reason we want a Facebook page is to create a platform in which we can post. We’ll then run ads on that post to advertise the shirt.

It works like this:

#1. You make a Facebook page.

#2. You design a shirt on Teespring.

#3. You post your Teespring link on the Facebook page, and advertise the post.

#4. People see your post, then check out your shirt on Teespring.

That’s the selling process.

You’ll need a Facebook page for every niche you walk into.

Let’s just say you decided to make shirts for both firefighters and nurses. You’ll need 2 Facebook pages.

Make sense so far?

Cool.

Now let me walk you through the steps of quickly creating your first Facebook page.

First, log in to your Facebook account.

Once you’re logged in, go to this link, which will take you to a page that looks like the one below.

When you’re there, type the name you want for your Fan page, and then add a category to describe your page.

In this example, we’ll create a Facebook page for firefighter shirts.

We will name our page “We Love Firefighters” and use “Apparel and Clothing” for our category.

Next, ignore the “Description” field. Click on “Create Page” to continue.

Next, we will upload a profile picture and a cover photo for our fan page.

To do that, click on the ‘’Add Profile Picture’’ and “Add Cover Photo” icon tabs as shown in the image below:

The profile picture is the image that appears next to every post that goes into the news feed from our page.

The ideal size for a profile photo is 180 pixels by 180 pixels, but it can be larger with different dimensions. We will be able to adjust the viewable portion of the profile picture later.

The cover photo is the large, horizontal image that spans the top of our Facebook page. Our cover photo has to be a minimum of 399 pixels wide (most standard photos are fine) but works best if it is sized to 828 pixels wide by 315 pixels high.

Now our cover photo is up. Shown below is how our cover photo will look. For now, the basic skeleton of our page is live:

It’s time to publish the content on our page.

We will collect 10 images to upload to our firefighter Facebook page. We want to do it so that our page does not look blank. These are just some fillers to complete our page before we start posting ads.

We’ll get those pictures from Pinterest.com.

Let’s punch in “[niche] + quotes” in the search box to find the images we want.

For our page, we will key in “firefighter quotes” to search for firefighter-related images.

Go through the search image results and select 10 good ones. Choosing the images is no biggie.

You just want 10 images as filler content, so don’t waste too much time on that.

To avoid getting lost, create a file folder: TEESPRING | Firefighter PAGE | Subfolder: IMAGES

After they’re all downloaded to our images folder, we’ll go back to our Facebook page. Let’s click “Photo/Video” at the top of our news feed.

We will select “Upload Photos/Video” to upload the 10 images, one at a time, from our IMAGES folder to our Facebook page.

When we upload an image to our page, it’s scaled to fill a box 476px by 249px. Like this:

Once you’ve uploaded all 10 images, you’re done. For now, congratulate yourself for getting your page up and running.

In the next lesson, we will create our first t-shirt campaign on Teespring.

Now, let’s move on to the next lesson.
